Nearly Died!!! Boca Driver Fainted Following Attacks From River Plates Fans

Argentine football experienced a shambolic showing between rival fans in the Superclasico between Boca Juniors and River Plates after a heated fight nearly resulted in Boca driver losing his life as the man himself revealed he fainted out of fear.

This has been a match fans have been waiting for with its passion and fun hoped to be expected but reverse was the case as  emotion spilled out into ugly scenes ahead of the Copa Libertadores final in Argentina, as fans attacked the team coach of Boca as it made its way to the stadium, leading to the showpiece final being postponed.

Missiles were launched outside the vehicle on its approach to the Estadio Monumental, causing several windows to be completely shattered and team players and staff on board to be covered in glass.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who was operating the away side's vehicle, has revealed he passed out as a result of the frightening events.

'He (vice-president Horacio Paolini) grabbed control of the bus until I reacted back and tried to do what I could to bring the boys here,' the driver told ESPN in the aftermath of the attacks.

'It could have been a tragedy, I remember when I saw the stones, then I do not remember anything.
'I turned around, I squeezed the steering wheel and said 'I'm good'.

'It was a moment when I ran out of air, the worst was on the streets Quinteros and Libertador, there was the massive attack there.

'Then when we passed the roundabout, it seemed like there was an army waiting for us. For me the area was liberated, we came to a football game not war.'

Following the injuries to the players and Boca Juniors' request for the tie to be pushed back, the Copa Libertadores final second leg has been suspended.

Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez was among those affected by the tear gas, and was seen helped into the dressing room while gagging
.
In a bid to get the game postponed he said: "They're forcing us to play this game. We're in no condition to play...this is also a problem due to the society in which we live. We're all responsible for this."

Following multiple meetings of CONMEBOL officials, the showpiece fixture was eventually abandoned after having its kick-off time repeatedly pushed back and rescheduled for Sunday 17:00
